The Technical Assistant is generally filled by a junior Java programmer. Within the Junior Programmer class, we distinguish between two levels of proficiency - Junior Programmer I and II. The Junior Programmer I class is entry-level, it is intended for recent graduates and individuals with less than one year (or no) professional experience. Entry level programmers are expected to have done university or college course work which included Java and the object oriented paradigm. The Junior Programmer II class is for individuals with at least one year of experience with Java and are expected to be familiar with the J2SE API and have a limited but working understanding of object oriented programming. The primary responsibility of the Technical Assistant is to aid the team leader in the coordination and management of the project. Most importantly, this includes ensuring that the documents and artifacts used by team members for development are accessible and current. Depending on the initial skill level of the individual taking this position, tasks associated with the technical assistant may include;
In addition to assisting the team lead, this position acts as the project librarian and has primary responsibility for organizing and maintaining project documentation. As stated above, this position is generally filled by a junior Java programmer, but if a persons qualificaitons or career goals are particularly well suited for this position, it may be filled by a person with more experience and the assigned tasks modified accordingly. |
